- Venezuela rejects overtures by Honduras to rejoin oas bloc
By news.brunei.fm : April 09, 2010
Venezuela's representative to the Organisation of American States (OAS) Roy Chaderton rejected overtures by the Honduran government of President Porfirio Lobo to re-integrate Honduras into the continental bloc. In remarks to journalists at the OAS headquarters here , Chaderton said the credentials presented by President Lobo were to accept his country again in OAS, a body from which Honduras was expelled in the wake of a coup against ousted President Manuel Zelaya in June. He said the Honduran government has not demonstrated "support to democratic standards", which can be seen in its "repression of people opposed to the coup" and its refusal to accept the return of Zelaya, said Chaderton.

Félix Molina, journalist with Radio Globo, informs me that a confidential source of his has confirmed that Otto Reich (click here or here for old news on Reich; he's only gotten worse, and has played a central role prior to and following the Honduran coup) is in Tegucigalpa for the second time in two months, on an unspecified consultancy. Reich arrived yesterday.
