The Human Rights Platform of Honduras (composed of six major human rights organizations) has rejected the official Truth Commission in Honduras which is supported by the U.S. government. Human Rights organizations have denounced the official commission as a charade which will whitewash the truth and bolster impunity.

This hot-off-the-press article by Jeff Boyer–who hosted me on my first trip to Honduras in 1991, and whose ethnographic work and deep commitment to social justice have always been an inspiration–should be required reading for every Peace Corps volunteer, solidarity activist, journalist, human rights delegation member, NGO employee, and of course anthropologist working in Honduras.
