Venezuela - General Strike UPDATE Posted: Monday, October 21, 2002 General Strike? Caracas is like a bank holiday Monday today as thousands upon thousands of 'stay-abed' Venezuelans take advantage of an extra day off from work courtesy of the employers' federation and the country's labor unions... A VHeadline.com survey shows that thousands of housemaids and servants to wealthy Venezuelans were not given leave to participate in today's General Strike after their employers claimed they would be "disadvantaged" if the serving staff and chauffeurs did not turn up for work!
