The Cuban Blockade: A Crime Against Humanity

A blockade –surrounding and preventing the delivery of supplies to cities– has been a method employed throughout human history by cut-throat conquerors feeling compelled to break their opponents.

It is said that the Greek town of Troy, cited by Homer in the Iliad, was besieged for a decade, while its fame lasts until today.

During the Second World War, for long harsh months German fascists surrounded the city of Leningrad, today St. Petersburg, in another episode of cruelty. Confronted with heroism by the

Soviet people and army, Berlin's forces were finally overcome.

However, with its prolonged and varied acts of aggression, Washington’s more than four and a half decade blockade of Cuba has become the longest in history.
