ALMOST always they have lyrical, benign names: "Rainbow", "Summer Rains", "Autumn Clouds". But whatever codenames the Israeli army gives to its military operations, they invariably belie the pain, suffering and death they bring to Gaza’s Palestinian communities.
In 2004, Operation Rainbow killed more than 120 Palestinian men, women and children, and destroyed bridges, houses and farms. In June this year, Summer Rains razed 1000 acres of orange an olive orchards as well as dozens of Palestinian homes.
